We, the undersigned, petition for the recognition that mandatory labor constitutes cruel and unusual punishment under the 8th Amendment of the United States Constitution.
The Founding Fathers never intended for Americans to sacrifice their lives to meaningless toil. The 8th Amendment clearly states that "cruel and unusual punishments" shall not be inflicted, yet millions are sentenced to decades of fluorescent-lit cubicles without their consent.
We demand the immediate recognition of our constitutional right to freedom from work, and the establishment of systems that respect human dignity over productivity.
